MY TIME OF HARVEST (Men Alive Convention 2014)

SPEAKER: Rev. V.O. Uabor
TOPIC: My Time of Harvest
TEXT: Gen. 8:22

1. THE CONCEPT OF HARVEST

  • God started it all in Gen. 8:22 when He said “While the earth remaineth, seed time and harvest … shall not cease”.
  • This concept has two aspects to it. A time to plant and a time to harvest that which is planted (Eccl. 3.2).
  • The embarrassing observation however is the amazing number of people who can’t remember ever planting anything earlier but anxiously expect a harvest.
  • Someone who seeks a harvest but cares not about the nature, time and location of a seed planted earlier is nothing but a thief (John 10:1). Hence it is natural for God to continually give seed to a consistent sower (Isaiah 55:10).
  • It is my prayer that in the course of this teaching, you will be very careful to note what has been planted, where and by whom, so you may enter into your proper harvest hereafter in Jesus Name! Amen!

2. THE BELIEVERS’ HARVEST

  • Jesus reveals in Matt. 9:37 that the believers’ harvest is truly plenteous.
  • John 10:10 says He came to restore what we lost to Sin and Satan more abundantly! The abundance is already here.
  • His concern is that the labourers (those who know what to harvest and how to harvest) are few! May you be among that privileged few during and after the programme in Jesus Name!

3. EXPECTATION AND HARVEST

When a farmer takes his basket and heads for his farm, two things are understood. They are:

  • He has a very wonderful knowledge of what he is expecting to harvest. This is the expectation factor. Hence another word for harvest is “expectation”. Information heightens your expectation.
  • He knows the location of his harvest. The location question is very fundamental. If you are caught seeking to harvest in the wrong location, you are a mere thief. Hence the counsel in Psalm 92:13.

4. THE NATURE OF THE BELIEVERS’ HARVEST

  • It is a harvest that you and I bestowed no labour.
  • It is a harvest that someone else did the planting, cultivating and maintenance (John 4:37-38).

How?

  • For the harvest of Salvation: Heb. 9:28. Jesus, offered to bear the sins of many, so that anyone who looks unto Him shall he appear a second time without sin unto salvation.
  • For the harvest of Health and Healing: Isaiah 53:5. He bore the wounds and the bruises which Satan had capitalized on to deal with us, so that by those stripes he has made healing available. By this process we are now partakers of the divine nature (I Peter 1:3-4)!
  • For the harvest of Prosperity: I Cor. 8:9: For your sake Jesus sowed the seed of poverty by burying it once and for all forever (John 12:24), so it may grow into trees of greatness now available for your riches.
  • In addition, Isaiah 45-1-3, there is divine holding of your right hand; there is subduing of nations before you; there is the losing the loins of kings; there is the opening of the two leaved gates and the making sure that the gates are not again shut against you; there is the Lord going before you; there is the making of the crooked places straight; there is the breaking in pieces of the gates of brass and cutting in sunder the bars iron; there is the giving you the treasures of darkness and the hidden riches of secret places that you may never have known of! Waoh! What a big harvest of prosperity?
  • For the harvest of Peace: John 14:27. Jesus has given us His own peace having made peace through his blood Rom. 5:1. This peace is the kind that the happenings around us and the hate of the world cannot deprive us of.
  • For the harvest of fruitfulness: Psalm 128:2 &6; Psalm 127:3; Deut. 7:14. Children are gifts. They are not distributed on the basis of human righteousness. God would see to the fulfillment of His word in each life here in Jesus Name!
  • For the harvest of promotion: Psalm 75:6-7.

5. ENTERING INTO MY HARVEST

  • Go with the digger of Obedience: Isaiah 1:19; Job 36:11
  • The hoe of service. Job 36:11; Exodus 23:25-28. Do things as if you are the only one having that responsibility.
  • The knife (or cutlass) of the Word of God. 2 Cor. 1:20; Heb. 4:12;
  • The shovel of prayer. Luke 18:2-8 especially verse 5, and 7.
  • The container of faith. Matt. 21:21-22; 9:29.
